Bumblebee:"A scanner at twelve o'clock, Prime." Optimus Prime:"Let's see if they can scan this!" It's Time For... logo here Today's subjects, Legacy Core Class Optimus Prime & Bumblebee! One thing I've low key enjoyed about Legacy is the box art. The artist protays the alt modes in realistic action and yet doesn't gloss over the obvious joints and seams that scream THIS IS A TOY. Delicious dichotomy. Box Art A Hasbro Pulse exclusive, this set combines a recolored CC Optimus in brighter colors and CC Bumblebee unchanged except for a soft gray plastic substitued for the previous black. Also, for some reason Optimus's head is mounted on the same white plastic used for the shoulder joints and legs. it's a bit jarring at first but I grew to ignore it. YMMV Bot/Vehicle modes unlabled. It's interesting to note the trailer (new for this set) is more accurate to the G1 toy than Earthrise, with the original Diaclone figure consoles scuplted into the base mode. The repair drone once again has it's antenna arm and original clamp claw. Repair station mode is back and better than ever. Repair mode Even Roller is included! SHOCK! Unlabled group shot The underside even has a spare tire! Trailer underside Even though Hasbro has been spare with paint apps, I think we can agree the sculpt team has been stepping up. Let's give them some help, shall we? Trailer mode! The trailer regains it's signature stripes and a pearlized Autobrand Short and sweet. Moving on to... Base mode! ToyHax supplies color for the Diaclone consoles, G1 greeble detail, and the classic "GO!" Base mode aerial The internal walls now have monitors and console interfaces. Looks like Bumblebee is reporting in! Base mode side views Roller even gets some love with monitors and an Autobrand. Roller shots To be honest the trailer benefits most from this set, but our intrepid duo get some love as well. Let's move on to Prime. Bot Mode! This is essentialy the same loadout as the original Core Class set covered earlier. Strangely, they switched the colors on his belt and crotch here. Also the window decals have a pearly sheen instead of the gradiant cel blue from the 1st set. Prime bot mode The laser axe from the second release (1st for the Legacy line) recevies metallic gold trim for the blades Laser Axe Truck Mode! Again, no real changes from the previous set. side windows, headlights, and a license plate. As this is close to the cartoon deco, I went with P373R this time. You get two of each, so you can also slap one on the trailer door, if you want. truck mode shots Hey Bumblebee's here for his turn! Bee exiting trailer Let's take a look. Car mode! Bumbleebee's alt mode gets most of the attention here. Up front you get detailed headlights with turn signals. More pearly blue for the windows. Bee front and sides In the back, black picks out the bumper, red for the tail lights. Again you get some options for the plate, I chose P R4C3R as a nod to BB's origins. As a nod to G1 you get a variation of his original greeble decal in the center. Bot Mode! Aside from the details added in vehicle mode the only addition is the blue gray triangle on his waist.
